About Us
Our Mission
Home Together Veterinary Services was founded to provide compassionate and thoughtful care for aging pets and their people. We spend time with our patients and their families, so we can better formulate treatment options that reflect the needs of the animal and the goals and wishes of you, the in-home caregivers.
We believe that communication, respect, and collaboration with our clients leads to better outcomes for our animal patients. We provide support for our clients, as they process the experiences and emotions of caring for and saying goodbye to their beloved companions.

Who We Are

Ashley Portmann
DVM, CHPV
Veterinarian and Owner
Dr. Ashley Portmann graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 and spent the first 8 years of her career as a small animal general practitioner. Practicing in Denver and Oregon, Ashley loved seeing the strong and special bonds between her human clients and their animal companions. In the spring of 2018, she established Home Together Veterinary Services to pursue her passion for geriatric and aging pets.
To further her knowledge, Ashley completed continuing education courses and case studies through the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC.) In 2019, she officially became a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian (CHPV), making her one of only 2 certified hospice vets on the Western Slope.
Ashley and her husband moved to Gunnison in 2018 and have loved being part of this vibrant and cohesive community. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, hiking, skiing, improv, cooking, and exploring all the beautiful places of Colorado. Her animal inspirations are her pets: dogs Twinkie and Daisy Mae, and crazy cats: Marvin, Jolene, and Millhouse.
